Yet another social networking site.. Oh wait, this time its from Microsoft?
Microsoft could be the latest player in the social networking market. According to reports, Microsoft “accidentally” unveiled its TOP SECRET project, a social networking-based search project called “Tulalip,” sporting a login link for Facebook or Twitter users. Apparently, the leak happened while the internet world is busy talking about the early success of Google Plus.
According to WinRumors, the social networking-centric project appeared at socl.com, and Microsoft, the owner of the domain, quickly pulled the plug off to avoid public access. If you visit the site today, a note will appear saying, “Thanks for stopping by. Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn’t mean to, honest.”
Really? (taken from Windows Phone commercial).
Unlike other reactions and speculation posted on the internet, I will not consider this so-called Microsoft top-secret a project to rival Facebook. Obviously, the Redmond-based company is an ally of Facebook, and also obviously, the can’t because Bing is still not that big to attract millions of users, plus, Microsoft and the word “socializing” don’t mix well.
The so-called leaked site also sported a Facebook log in javascript link, so it’s not a standalone social networking site that could offer a brand-new ecosystem.
I hope they’re just testing it, and will put it in test stage forever
